H -Town - Our time in Houston, TX

After almost 4 weeks on the road we needed some downtime and we got it in Houston.

We stayed with my Dad and step mom Connie.  They live in Clear Lake.  While there we got some excellent R&R.  We spent a good deal of the time doing last minute planning since our next stop would be a quick overnight in Laredo before crossing the border.  It's amazing the number of last minute things that come up when you are about to leave the country for two years and you are only taking what you can pack in your car (for a family of 4).

Last minute shopping for clothes, car parts, first aid, electronics, etc., there's a lot to think about.  But don't worry if you forget something...you might be screwed!  Amazon.com Prime does not deliver to Guatemala.  Serious 1st world problems!

We seriously weren't worried about not having something but we did want to tie up some loose ends and pick things up while they were more convenient in the States.

Besides the errands we did have some fun.  Highlights include:

  • Visiting with my Dad and Connie
  • Swimming in their pool almost everyday/night
Have pool, will swim

  • Meeting up with High School and College friends (sorry we could not see everyone)
  • Family puzzle night
We let Tag put the last piece in the puzzle.  He worked hard on it.

Tag decided to crawl inside the play oven and soon other kids followed.

  • And on the way out of town we hit the oldest deli in the state
