Walking the Planks and Hanging from a Rope: Day 2 in Santa Cruz

Our second day in Santa Cruz was very different from our first. I woke up early and went on a slow run. The terrain was quite rocky so I was forced to walk much of the time. I found the local soccer field.

The soccer field was full of rocks and holes.

Then, I followed the path to the water and found myself walking on several wood planks. As you may have remembered, Lake Atitlan has been rising for the past several years. Locals have erected this path along the lake and adjust it as needed. The rising of the lake is significant enough that La Iguana is going to have to move their kitchen/dining room to higher land. Others with houses along the shore need to make adjustments as well.

I thought it was quite fun walking on the planks. It was sturdy enough.

Tag also enjoyed walking on the planks. Elle, not-so-much.

My explorations brought me to an adorable hotel. I took a quick look around and brought the rest of the family to it later that morning. We had some snacks there. Ken and Elle also went swimming.

We also found a litter of puppies along the path. The kids loved petting as many as they could.

Elle thought it would be funny to wear Tag's life jacket.

A yoga studio and relaxation space. This hotel doesn't mind if others use it when it's empty.

Tag & Elle played for an hour on this old boat turned into a swing. It is pretty cool.

Our friend introduced us to Silks. We played around on these for a while.

Apparently I took more impressive pics of Ken on the silks than he took of me!

Santa Cruz was fantastic. We look forward to more trips to La Iguana.
