Tag Meets Laval in Kansas City, MO

We arrived in Kansas City at 11:30 pm and were looking forward to four days of down-time at Granny’s (Ken’s Mom’s) house. After all the days of being “tourists” we knew we wouldn’t do that here. Around 1:00 am (We’re a family of night owls and probably hadn’t adjusted to the new time zone), the kids and Granny went to bed. Then, Ken did something he shouldn’t have done…He googled “Things Happening in Kansas City this weekend” and discovered a special event at the Legoland Discovery Center. They were having a special Chima weekend with special guest Laval, the main Lion character. If you have a 5 year old boy, then you know what a HUGE deal this is. It’s the equivalent to Elle meeting Dora when she was 5 at the Puyallup Fair in Washington State.

We also went to the Sea Life Aquarium since it was next door to the Lego place and we could get discount tickets to visit both.

The rest of the weekend was spent visiting family, including Ken’s 90-year old grandfather, F.G., in Richmond, Texas. F.G. took us for a spin in his 1959 Ford Fairlane. Not only is it a hardtop convertible, but the top opens and closes electronically. Better yet, in Elle’s opinion, there are NO SEATBELTS!
