Monkey Day!
/On the day that many of our friends in the US were posting First Day of School pictures, we headed to Manuel Antonio Beach, one of my favorites. It did not disappoint. In fact, it was my favorite beach day EVER.

We swam at the beach and took a picture to commemorate the beginning of the school year, although I'm not quite sure what that means to us anymore. The only item on our back-to-school list is new swimsuits which we all desperately need.
While taking a rest in the beach chairs we rented, I noticed a monkey playing in the trees. As I watched closer, I realized we were in for a huge treat. There were several white faced monkeys, and they were on the prowl for food.

Another family was feeding the monkeys chips. After seeing this, Domingo (a local in the parking lot) broke open several nearby coconuts and generously handed them out so that we could feed the monkeys healthy food.
Ela is feeding one of the sweeter monkeys. We were wary of the biggest, most aggressive monkey and started calling him Loco Mono (crazy monkey). He gave us a few snarls, and he wanted all of the food for himself.

I can't believe I took these pictures! The monkeys were all around and just above our heads. So cool!
One last rinse in the ocean and then it's our turn to eat.
After the beach, we headed to the Gato Negro Restaurant for some food and more swimming.
We were here from 4:30-6:30PM. It was time to go when the strobe lights started and 20-something in fancy pool wear and high heels appeared.
I think they took off their flip flops before they got in the pool but I'm not positive.
Expert Traveler Tip: Order kid food first and enjoy the pool while they eat.
At the end of the day, we were all exhausted.
A busy day will do this to a kid!
I think we're going to like this homeschool business. Tomorrow - research white faced monkeys!
